Summer is a busy time for us as well as the few summer-planning months leading up to summer. We have hundreds of short term mission trip guests throughout the summer. Sometimes over 100 per week. Bethany is staying busy with all the medical needs from sneezes to stitches. She also debriefs groups at the end of their days. Kevin is staying busy with leading groups on campus in building and maintenance projects along with his other regular responsibilities. Both of us are spending lots of time with interns as we are in charge of the summer interns here on campus. We regularly post pictures of family and ministry on Facebook, so make sure we are friends.
We wanted to wish you all a Happy Easter. We hope you can celebrate the resurrection on Sunday with family and friends. Read the latest blog about Easter. As we celebrate Good Friday, we celebrate all that Christ did for us on the cross. And as we celebrate Easter Sunday, we celebrate all that He accomplished and to that which we have to look forward. Happy Easter and thank you for your prayers and support.
Thank you for all those who have taken our prayer requests before the Lord. Thank you for being faithful to trust that God answers prayers. I wanted to update you about the couple that was separated and that we had been meeting with and praying for. God has restored their relationship and they are back together. They are not unaware of the work and struggles to come, but they are excited to be back together working to glorify God in their relationship. They have communicated their confidence in God that they are going to be alright. We are excited for this answered prayer and the opportunity we have to continue to love on them as a couple.
We are starting the new year with great optimism for our ministry this year. Kevin recently started a new project at the children's home (orphanage) with which they work most closely. He is remodeling an area and constructing it into a multi-room apartment where the older boys at the home will live in a family style setting with a caretaker. The boys are excited to have space that is their own, usable bathrooms next to their rooms, a space to do homework, and their own kitchen with a dining room. This apartment will help move away from the institutionalized setting in which they currently live. Kevin is still leading the staff men in discipleship and outings. He is also the strength and conditioning coach for the soccer team for the teens on their campus. He will also be leading 24 U.S.A. college interns this summer. Bethany has already been providing medical care to mission groups (suturing a laceration),staff, staff kids, and teens in our programs. She has begun planning with medical staff for this coming year. Kaden is homeschooling with Bethany and learning lots of Spanish. Makenzie is starting to talk full sentences and understands a lot of Spanish. Please pray for their impact with staff, the children's home, teens, interns, and several intentional relationships that they are building with lost people in their community. Continue to pray for them as they continue to get a better grasp of the language and culture. Also pray as Kevin is still juggling many roles and, with some structure changes, will be somehow adding even more responsibilities.
Through your support, a new men’s bible study and discipleship group has taken shape, encouraging our co-laborers to lead their family’s well, to remain faithful to their call, and to not grow weary of doing good. It has enabled many large projects to be completed at the orphanage Casa Hogar Del Norte, assisting them in creating more of a family style atmosphere in which these children can grow, diminishing the risk of many types of long lasting deficits caused by institutionalization. Medical and dental care was provided to over 300 people in a neighboring river community where people live as “squatters” without plumbing or electricity, foraging trash for things to sell and survive. All of this was made possible because of your faithfulness to God’s call to love and serve the orphan child.
If you faithfully support us on a monthly or annual basis, we want to thank you and encourage you to continue to partner with us in this important work. Children are experiencing the love and care of a God, a God who sees them and has a plan for their lives because of your partnership. If you have considered financially partnering with us, now is a great time to join the team. Please consider giving a tax-deductable financial gift to our ministry as you look towards year end charitable giving. You can do this either as a one-time gift or on an ongoing monthly or annual basis.
We pray that through your partnership, your lives are also enriched as you attest to the work of God in the lives of these children. Thank you for answering the call and being a part of educating, serving, loving and advocating for the orphans of Mexico.
If you are not already friends with us on Facebook, please friend-request us ('Bethany Butters' Hall, Kevin Hall). We more regularly post about our time via Facebook. We are often sharing things about our family, day, ministry, and the children's homes. Thanks for wanting to stay in contact with us. We want you to always feel a part of this ministry in which we are partners.
Tomorrow starts our last week of summer groups. Summer is the busiest time with mission groups as there are often three or four mission groups on campus at one time. We can house up to 130 people on campus. It has been a great summer of working with groups and connecting people with kids and caretakers at the children's homes. We have gotten a lot of work done this summer at the homes, but more importantly we have seen a lot of laughter and love shared between mission group members and the children at the homes. It has been great connecting our family with the kids also. Thank you for continuing to be a part of changing lives through our work in Monterrey.
We've made it to Mexico. I just wanted to give a quick update for everyone now that I have the computer up and running. Thank you for all your continued prayers. Many have prayed for months that we would be able to have space on campus to live. Prayer Answered. We are on campus and have a good space to meet our family's needs. Many prayed for our travel. Prayer Answered. We all made it down with very little hiccups. Many prayed for visa interview, border crossing, and immigration/customs entry. Prayer Answered. We all made it through smoothly and got everything we needed for our visas thus far. We are settling into our space and making it feel like home. Language school and on-site training has already started so we are staying busy. The kids are meeting so many new friends and having a great time. We are blessed to have an awesome community of staff to come alongside us, welcome us, help us, accept us, and love on us. Thank you for continuing to pray for us and with us.
We are filling our moving boxes and saying final goodbyes, which are often moving themselves and leave us in tears. While it's hard to say goodbye to the ones we love and to those who have invested time and energy into us, we are also so excited to begin the work for which God has prepared us. We again thank you for your support and prayers as we partner together to make a difference in the lives of orphans in Monterrey.
As you pray for us, please keep Kevin in mind as he and travels with Bethany's dad to the border. Also, pray for the border crossing which is planned for March 27th. Bethany and kids will fly with Bethany's mom and sister on March 31st.
After seeing God so faithful in provision, we have reached 93% funding to date. We recently got the green light, thumbs up from our sending organization after meeting our 90% mid-January deadline. We are so thankful for all our partners who have sacrificially given and devotedly prayed. We will finish these last weeks of work, final fund raising, packing, preparing to leave, and spending time with family and friends. We leave the country at the end of March.
Regular briefings on our time in Mexico.
