These lyrics, though, help describe the Church and how followers of Christ have each been given an important and needed role.
Romans 12:6 “Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly…”
1 Corinthians 12:4-7 “Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.” (NASB)
Here is what we can remember about our roles in the body of Christ from this children’s tune:
We all have a job – Each of us has been given a role to play in the body of Christ. We have all received a spiritual gift. God has given us all different talents, abilities, and likes. We each have a job to fulfill. (1 Peter 4:10; 1 Corinthians 12:7,11)
All of our jobs are important – God didn’t give you a gift that is meaningless. What He has given you is important. Your role is important. We all have something to offer. (1 Corinthians 12:21-26)
We all help in different ways – Each of us plays a different role. We each help the body of Christ properly function in different ways. We’ve been given different gifts in order to complete the many different tasks. (Romans 12:4-6; 1 Corinthians 12:4-7)
We are all needed – As we all have different roles that are used in different ways and equally important as any other given gift, we are all needed. The church needs your gift. It was not meant to function properly without you and your unique giftedness. (1 Corinthians 12:12,20,27; Romans 12:5-6)
